Provisional results are sent via WhatsApp to test-takers.
Official results are provided on a Test Report Form (TRF), which must be collected in person from the IFI Test Centre. You will receive one copy only.
If needed, you can request additional copies to be sent directly to recognizing organizations such as universities and colleges.
How can I send copies of my TRF to other institutions?
To request additional copies of your Test Report Form (TRF) to be sent to institutions:
- Complete the "Application for the Issue of Additional TRFs"
- Then, email the form to info@ifi.qa
Once your request is processed, we will submit the results to the specified institutions online.
- Important Note: if physical delivery is required, the shipping charges will be borne by the test-taker.
Can I send someone else to collect my results for me?
Yes, you can authorize someone else to collect your results on your behalf by completing the Authorization Form
What can I do if I am unhappy with my results?
If you are dissatisfied with your IELTS results, you have two options to consider:
- Enquiry on Results (EOR):
If you believe your results do not reflect your true performance, you can request an Enquiry On Results within six weeks of your test date. To proceed, you need to:
- Complete the IELTS Enquiry on Results
- Pay the required fee (this fee will be refunded in full if your score changes).
EOR fee: 429 QAR
- One Skill Retake (OSR):
This option is available only for IELTS On Computer tests. If you want to improve your score in just one specific skill, you can apply for a One Skill Retake (OSR). This allows you to retake only the individual skill, rather than the entire test.
Remember:
If you plan to apply for both an OSR and an EOR, you must submit your EOR request within two weeks of the test date. After receiving the results, you may then apply for the OSR. This means that you cannot apply for an EOR if you take the OSR first.
OSR fee: 875 QAR
Can I use my OSR results anywhere?
We recommend test-takers verifying with the relevant organization before booking One Skill Retake (OSR).
Can I reschedule or cancel my IELTS test?
If you wish to reschedule or cancel your IELTS test, here’s what you need to know:
- More than 5 weeks before the test date:
You can cancel or reschedule your test and receive a refund, minus an administration charge.
- Within 5 weeks of the test date:
You will be charged the full test fee unless you have a serious medical reason for needing to cancel or reschedule.

How many times can I take the IELTS test?
There is no limit on how many times you can take the IELTS test. However, before retaking the test, it’s best to practice and prepare thoroughly.
Is it better to take IELTS on a computer or on paper?
Neither format is better than other, it all depends on your personal preference:
- If you’re more comfortable with a keyboard, IELTS on Computer may be a better choice, offering faster results and the One Skill Retake.
- If you prefer writing by hand, IELTS on Paper might suit you better.
Which one is better for IELTS? IDP or British Council?
IDP is a co-owner of IELTS. The British Council and Cambridge English are the other co-owners of the test. Taking your IELTS test at IDP is the same as taking one at British Council. In addition, the marking scheme and standards are exactly the same.
Is it bad if the examiner stops or interrupts me during the speaking test?
It might feel odd if the examiner interrupts you, but there’s no need to worry. Examiners do this for several reasons, the most common being time constraints. Since the Speaking test lasts only 12–15 minutes, the examiner must cover multiple topics to fully assess your English skills. Interruptions help keep the conversation on track and ensure that all required areas are evaluated. It’s not a reflection of your performance—it’s just part of the test structure.
What accents are used in the IELTS Listening test?
In the IELTS Listening test, you’ll hear a variety of English accents, including British, Australian, New Zealand, and North American. Keep in mind that accents can vary even within a single country, for example, someone from northern England may sound quite different from someone in the south. To prepare, expose yourself to different accents through podcasts, videos, and radio programs. This will help you become comfortable with diverse pronunciation and speech patterns.
What’s the difference between IELTS and IELTS for UKVI?
If you're applying for a UK visa to work or study in the UK, you may need to take a Secure English Language Test (SELT) approved by the UK Home Office. IELTS is one of the approved tests, and the version taken for UK visa applications is called IELTS for UKVI. In terms of format, content, scoring, and difficulty, both IELTS and IELTS for UKVI are the same. The only difference is the Test Report Form, which is specifically designed to indicate that the test was taken at an official UKVI-approved center.
Can I use One Skill Retake to improve two skills on my Test Report Form?
Unfortunately, the short answer is no. IELTS One Skill Retake allows you to retake only one of the four skills. However, you do have the following options:
- Option 1: Request a re-mark
- Option 2: Retake the full test
How can I familiarize myself with the IELTS test before taking it?
Good news! IFI offers a mock test for 260 QAR (test only) or 310 QAR (test with feedback), giving you the chance to experience the test format before the actual exam. Taking a practice test helps you feel more comfortable and confident on test day.
If I take IELTS One Skill Retake, can I get a lower score?
Yes, it is possible to receive the same or even a lower score when retaking a single skill. While many candidates achieve their target score on the first attempt, factors such as test-day performance, preparation, and stress can impact results. If you’re considering a retake, ensure you’re fully prepared. Working with a qualified English teacher can help you refine your skills and boost your confidence.
At IFI, we offer tailored classes to address your weaknesses and help you prepare more effectively for your test. Get in touch with our mentoring department via WhatsApp at 55013823 to learn more!
P.S. You will receive a different Test Report Form (TRF) for the One Skill Retake (OSR). If your new score is lower, you can still use your original TRF for applications.
Is IELTS General Training easier than the Academic test?
The difficulty depends on your strengths and preparation.
The Listening and Speaking sections are the same for both versions. The key differences lie in Reading and Writing:
- Academic IELTS includes topics suited for university or professional settings.
- General Training IELTS focuses on everyday situations and workplace scenarios.
Both versions have the same number of questions—it’s just the subject matter that varies.
I received the outcome of my EOR request within a few hours. Was my test thoroughly re-evaluated?
Yes! Every re-mark request is thoroughly reviewed by senior IELTS examiners. Since IELTS has examiners worldwide, your test might be reassessed by an examiner in a different time zone. Each section of the test is marked by a different senior examiner, allowing for a faster turnaround. While the process typically takes a few days, in some cases, it can be completed within hours—especially for IELTS on computer.
